Day 26 - One sin will not be forgiven.

Deuteronomy 27-31; Luke 12

In the old testament, Moses relates how there is set before the Israelites a blessing and a curse. Jesus warns us of whom we should fear more than anyone that might do us harm. Jesus reminds us that we are valued and to not be anxious for He cares for us. What sin will not be forgiven?

  • 29:5 I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes have not grown old on you, and your shoes have not grown old on your feet.
  • 30:15 Behold, I have set before you this day life and good, and death and evil;
  • 30:16 in that I command you this day to love Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it.
  • 30:17 But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but shall be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
  • 30:18 I denounce to you this day, that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land, where you pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it.
  • 30:19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse: therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your seed;
  • 12:4 "I tell you, my friends, don't be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
  • 12:5 But I will warn you whom you should fear. Fear him, who after he has killed, has power to cast into Gehenna. Yes, I tell you, fear him.
  • 12:6 "Aren't five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God.
  • 12:7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Therefore don't be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows.
  • 12:8 "I tell you, everyone who confesses me before men, him will the Son of Man also confess before the angels of God;
  • 12:9 but he who denies me in the presence of men will be denied in the presence of the angels of God.
  • 12:10 Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
  • 12:22 He said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you, don't be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear.
  • 12:23 Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.
  • 12:24 Consider the ravens: they don't sow, they don't reap, they have no warehouse or barn, and God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds!
  • 12:25 Which of you by being anxious can add a cubit to his height?
  • 12:26 If then you aren't able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?
  • 12:27 Consider the lilies, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
  • 12:28 But if this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith?
  • 12:29 Don't seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious.
  • 12:30 For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things.
  • 12:31 But seek God's Kingdom, and all these things will be added to you.
  • 12:32 Don't be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.
  • 12:33 Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don't grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn't fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys.
  • 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
  • 12:40 Therefore be ready also, for the Son of Man is coming in an hour that you don't expect him."
  • 12:48 but he who didn't know, and did things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few stripes. To whoever much is given, of him will much be required; and to whom much was entrusted, of him more will be asked.
  • 12:51 Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division.
  • Retention/Recall

    • Holy Spirit Blaspheme: “To commit this sin one must consciously, persistently, deliberately, and maliciously reject the testimony of the Spirit to the deity and saving power of the Lord Jesus.” If a person keeps doing that until death, there is no hope of forgiveness and eternal life in heaven.

What is the Sinner's Prayer for Salvation?

The sinners prayer is a common Christian term for a prayer that is said when someone wants to repent of their sin, ask God for forgiveness, and verbally state their belief in the life, death, and saving resurrection of Jesus Christ.

"For, if with your lips you acknowledge the truth of the message that JESUS IS LORD, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with their hearts people believe and so attain to righteousness, while with their lips they make their Profession of faith and so find salvation." Romans 10:9-10

Christ's death on the cross paid in full the debt of our sin. Action must be taken to take hold of the gift.

Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and there is nothing that I can do to save myself. I confess my complete helplessness to forgive my own sin or to work my way to heaven through any good works. At this moment I trust Christ alone and receive by faith all Grace purchased by Jesus as the One who bore my sin when He died on the cross. I believe that He did all that will ever be necessary for me to stand in your holy presence. I thank you that Christ was raised from the dead as a guarantee of my own resurrection. As best as I can, I now transfer my trust to Him and by my faith take hold of His grace and love for me. I am grateful that He has promised to receive me despite my many sins and failures. Thank you for your word that will guide me as to how I should live my remaining days. Please grant me the wisdom to discern correctly and motivation to grow my faith, obedience, understanding, appreciation, and love for you. Thank you for your Grace and mercy that I do not deserve. Thank you that my salvation is not based on my level of performance in my short life but in my receiving what your victory on the cross did pay for. Thank you that I can receive by my faith alone, your glorious gift of salvation. Thank you for hearing this prayer and for saving me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
